the Friday pickle: do in-ear monitors help or hinder?

Posted by Craig Borlase on 10 June 2014

We’ve all seen them, plenty of us have tried them, and - I’m guessing - quite a few of us have got them. But how much do in-ear monitors help the modern worship leader?

Do they allow you to focus on the sound, or do they separate you from the very people you are supposed to be leading?

Do they allow more control, or do they promote isolation?

Do you find that they work like treat, or are you forever yanking one of them out in an effort to have the best of both worlds?

What are your experiences, good and bad? Do you have any advice for someone considering buying a set? What kind of PA set-up works best with in-ears? What are the common pitfalls to avoid?

Over to you, picklers.
