The journey so far

“Music was always my passion, sort of like an addiction since my childhood,” says Sheldon Bangera. “I knew I wanted to be playing music for life.” He was right, though his musical journey ended up being far longer and more curious than he might have predicted. “I got into rock and roll, then heavy metal, and I started writing songs for my band. I became greatly depressed as a teenager and found that music wasn't able to satisfy me. On the contrary, it had a negative effect on me emotionally and as a person.”

But there was a twist in the road when Sheldon reluctantly attended a prayer gathering. “I had a God moment that changed my life. I decided if I was going to sing one more song in my entire life, it was going to be for Jesus!”

He gave up music for a while, but years later Sheldon felt God challenge him. “If I called on Him in my private worship time He would give me songs which He said would impact the world.”

Sheldon did just that, and started leading worship at a youth fellowship, then in church and eventually at college events. “Now, I get to travel the world and cause people to praise God everywhere. I love what I do. I couldn't ask for more.”

Today Sheldon is most passionate about mentoring young individuals, especially worship leaders, songwriters, artists and ‘media missionaries’. “I love that I get to do life with them at our little Jaago Worship School. Jesus' only investment was people. I believe in people, in their potential and their dreams and I love to see where God would take them.”

He’s currently producing, songwriting and praying for God’s wisdom as he figures out what He would have him do next!
