Some people don’t like singing. They don’t really like music all that much either. It’s not that they’re performance shy or trying to be contrary, it’s just that music and singing don’t move them.
Now, admittedly there probably aren’t a whole lot of these music-free believers packing out your local multi-media-savvy evangelical church, but they exist alright. Just in the same way that some don’t like sport while others don’t love their food, we share this good earth with brothers and sisters who can’t sing and don’t really want to sing.
And yet the sound of our musical worship is one of the defining characteristics of modern churches. So here’s today’s pickle: can you still be a Christian and not like sung worship?
