the Friday pickle: do we really need any more worship songs?

Craig Borlase

10th June 2014

Have we got too many worship songs already, or does the stack of new songs that fill our churches indicate a golden age of creativity? When a song is written for one sepcific church, does it help the congregation own what God is doing for themselves, or does it create even more distance between one church and another? Should we go back and exhaust the hymns of the past - or the poetry of the Bible - before we start making our own noise, or is a new song automatically better than an old one?

What do you think? Have you got enough songs, or are you hungry for more?
