If you're scanning the news sites today, the chances are that you'll come across a report about happiness. It tells us that some guys with spreadsheets have just announced that of all the people from all the countries, it's the Aussies who are happier than everyone else. Which is nice.
Or is it actually just a little bit misguided? If we place Happiness at the top of our life goals, are we in danger of missing the point?
And what about worship? If happiness is perceived by many as a measure of success, do we feel the temptation to keep the buzz going when we're leading our commnunity in song? Do we gloss over the painful, hard-to-answer parts of life and choose instead to keep on smiling, bouncing and gently pogo-ing? Do we sing 'Beautiful Things' more for its chirpy tune than the gutteral cry of hope in the midst of pain?
Or, maybe, posts like these just need to lighten up and stop being so miserable.
