"Praise The King" by Corey Voss - Song Devotional

Corey Voss

1st March 2018

At some point in our lives, we have all felt the sting of death. The Bible tells us that the wages of our sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus. As born-again believers, we can all remember the day we finally recognized this truth and the reality that we needed a Savior to rescue us from the punishment we deserved.

We know that as believers, unless we experience the second coming of Christ on this side of Heaven, we will face a physical death of our body, but it is only temporary. There is a coming resurrection through our King, Jesus. It is because of His death, resurrection and saving power, that we are now invited to live in that same reality. Yet until that day fully comes, we live in the tension of what we are promised but have yet to fully experience.

In this moment, you might be experiencing pain, suffering, loss. But remember, even in our pain, it is temporary because we have the promise of eternal life through Christ.

My song "Praise the King" reminds us of the power of Christ's resurrection. He is alive both now and forevermore. Because of this, we get to live in and receive everything that Jesus died to give us! The bridge of the song comes from 1 Corinthians 15:55 which declares that death is swallowed up in victory and it has lost its sting because of what Jesus accomplished at Calvary.

There truly is a reason why "we sing on through the night." There is a coming resurrection, a new day, a promise that will never fade. Be encouraged today that as you praise Him, walking in the hope and promise of resurrection. Each new day, with the Holy Spirit living in you, you get to step into new mercies and grace. You get to walk in His resurrection power. Hallelujah, He's alive!

Take a moment to thank the Lord Jesus for this great gift He has given you and ask the Holy Spirit to help you walk in it, moment by moment.
